The Glowing Mane - Bring Back your Locks to Life | Clinic Dermatech
Maintaining
a shiny and bouncy mane after the adolescent years is a bit time taking and
requires effort. With the changing times, factors that can affect our healthy
hair texture are also changing and have been on an increase recently. Pollution,
sun exposure, stress, poor water quality, hair styling, coloring and other hair
modifications are some out of the many reasons that ruin our hair texture. Fortunately,
there are ways that can help us retain that natural bounce and bring back gloss
to have that mane of silky hair that’s the desire as well as envy of many.
It is often
said that hair care starts
at home, but when we have our cupboards full of branded
conditioners, shampoos, serums and hair creams, we tend to forget the natural
home remedies from our kitchen that may help more than the market-manufactured
products. Some easily available kitchen ingredients such as Beer, Black Tea,
Avocado, Olive Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey, Gelatin, Yogurt, etc. can do
wonders in bringing shine to lifeless dull hair. Maintaining good hair health
with proper consumption of vegetables and fruits in tandem in our daily diet is
equally essential.
It’s
all in the nutrients
Healthy and silky hair equals to great shine and
smooth mane! Don’t you agree? So, let us now look at a few home remedies for long hair that’s voluminous as well, and can be
done at home with ingredients from our own kitchen:
1) Eggs

No, don’t
make that face! Eggs are the best nourishment our hair can get, really. It is
an excellent source of protein, fatty acids and lecithin that keep our hair
full with shine and strength.
Mix one egg
white into your favorite oil (almond, coconut or olive) and apply on scalp for
at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off with a shampoo. This can be done once
a week.
2) Beer

Beer is not just an excellent party drink; it’s also a super effective hair tonic for silky hair! The proteins in it are the best way to gain shine and luster back in the hair. Once in every two weeks, you can use flat beer as a replacement to your conditioner after shampooing. Remember to massage it well into the scalp and the roots.
3) Hot Oil
Regular and
thorough oiling, which we have fondly come to refer to as ‘champitelmalish’,
can significantly lift the texture and quality of our hair. You can use warm
coconut oil and gently massage it into the scalp with circular motions of the
fingertips. No problem if you don’t like coconut oil, any other oil can be
used.
4) Mayonnaise
The
conundrum of almost every woman’s life is – how to make hair silky? Now while there is no one routine to doing
it, this food dressing is definitely one of the key ingredients for it. Mayonnaise
makes great sandwiches and great hair too. It contains a lot of proteins and
antioxidants that help hair breathe, eventually making
them smooth and shiny. Use a considerate amount of mayonnaise and rub it onto
your damp hair, rinsing it off after 30 minutes.
5) Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon
Both these
ingredients are rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants that make them superb hair
conditioners. Apple Cider and lemon can be mixed into water for washing off
your hair after regular shampooing.
These
remedies will help you retain the lost shine and smooth follicles, but at the
same time, prevention is always better than cure. So drink ample amounts of
water and include green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits in your daily diet to
keep the health of your hair and skin intact. Go out there, and rock the world
with your lustrous locks!
